In 1996, Julia Mandle founded J Mandle Performance, a Brooklyn-based, non-profit experimental arts organization, to help support the development and production of her public projects. Named after her grandmother's fashion design company, Mandle's organization has been instrumental in the creation of over twenty original works, many including dynamic cross-disciplinary collaborations.

The mission of the organization is to create performances, which cause audiences to pause and heighten their perception of everyday environments.
